Event Type

level 2 - Introduction to Veterinary Oral Surgery and Periodontal Treatment

Course Description

This course is geared towards doctors only and is limited to 8 veterinarians.

The class covers five common surgical and periodontal techniques that are frequently encountered in the general veterinary practice: local anesthetic blocks; surgical extraction techniques; easy retrieval of fractured roots; treatment of uncomplicated crown fractures with exposed vital dentin using bonded sealants; closed root planning and perioceutic application.

The class is organized in two parts: a lecture in the morning and a wet lab in the afternoon. Both parts will be focused on practical tips that will improve your skills, decrease your stress, and increase your professional satisfaction when dealing with oral surgery.

Each participant will work on a cadaver specimen with simulated lesions to “treat” the pathology. Pre-operative X-Rays of the simulated lesion will be provided, and post-operative x-rays can be obtained to check the results. Instructors will provide guidance and assistance throughout the entire class.

Each participant will work at their own station, with their own materials and equipment, with no need to wait around! All the necessary equipment will be provided, including loupes to improve visualization. At the end of the class, each participant will take home a free, brand new extraction pack, valued at $375!

**Our lectures and labs are for Arizona residents only**
